Common species in Cat Tien ( Sinev & Korovchinsky 2013). Species was common in all samples from localities 7 and 8. Several ephippial females and males were present in locality 8 on 05.12.2017 and in locality 7 on 15.02.2018.
Morphology of studied parthenogenetic females fully agrees with the previous descriptions of L. ciliata s. str. from Africa ( Kotov et al. 2003). Males of this species were never reported from nature in South-East Asia, but were obtained by Sinev & Sanoamuang (2011) in culture by hormonal induction. Ephippial females of this species were found for the first time.
Ephippial female. Body high oval ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 A–B), similar in shape to that of parthenogenetic female. Ephippium ( Fig. 7C View FIGURE 7 ) high oval, with distinctive dorsal ridge and weakly defined egg locules, with uneven surface and weakly developed sculpture in shape of small dot-like depressions. In preserved specimens ephippium color is yellowbrown.
Male. Morphology of males ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 G–I, 7D–F) from studied populations fully agree with the previous description of Sinev & Sanoamuang (2011); male postabdomen ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 H–I, 7E–F) of studied specimens is narrow, with parallel margins. Male of L. ciliata s. str. was described only once from a population from Niger ( Dumont & Van de Velde 1977: Fig.9 View FIGURE 9 ). Specimens from Niger differ from those studied here in having a broader postabdomen (length about 2.5 height) with convex dorsal and ventral margins and defined postanal angle..
