Note.
See Smetana (1982) for identification. This species has been previously reported from New Brunswick (Webster et al. 2012h) and Ontario ( Bousquet et al. 2013). Not much has been reported about its biology, though Smetana (1982) suspected that it prefers microhabitats similar to those of the Central European species, H. angularis (Ganglbauer, 1895), which is associated with tree-holes and similar microhabitats, and often cohabitates with wood-nesting ants. One of us (AJB) has repeatedly collected series of this species in tree-holes (oaks, beech, sugar maple) in Ontario, confirming the hypothesis of Smetana (1982).
