Oides foveicollis Laboissière, 1940: 1 ( Philippines: Mindanao); Wilcox, 1971: 9 (catalogue); Kimoto, 1990: 219 (catalogue).
Types. Lectotype ♂ ( IRSB), here designated, labeled: “[aedeagus preserved inside glass genitalia vial] // ♂ [p, w] / / Oost Mindanao / Semper [p, w] // Coll. Chapuis [p, w] [both labels glued on the following label] // Coll. R. I. Sc. N. B. / Philippines [p, y] // V. Laboissière det., 1939: [p] / Oides / foveicollis ♂ / Type m [h, w] // TYPE [p, r] // cf. Bull. Mus. / Hist. Nat. Belg. [p] / XVI, 3, 1940, p. 1, [h, w] // édeage étudié, X-1978 [h] / A. VACHON—det. [p, w]”. Paralectotype. 1♀ (IRSB): “[female genitalic structures preserved inside glass genitalia vial] // ♀ [p, w] // Oost Mindanao / Semper [p, w] // Coll. Chapuis [p, w] [both labels glued on the following label] // Coll. R. I. Sc. N. B. / Philippines [p, y] // V. Laboissière det., 1939: [p] / Oides / foveicollis / m ♀ / allotype [h, w] // cf. Bull. Mus. / Hist. Nat. Belg. [p] / XVI, 3, 1940, p. 1, [h, w] // Para- / type [p, r]”.
Redescription. Length 9.6–11.2 mm, width 6.0– 7.2 mm. General color yellow. Antennae filiform in males ( Fig. 38A View FIGURE38 ), antennomeres IV much longer than III, length ratios of antennomeres I–V (VI–XI lost) 1.0: 0.5: 0.9: 1.4: 1.2, length to width ratios of antennomeres I–V 2.2: 1.6: 2.4: 3.4: 3.3. Pronotum transverse, 2.0x wider than long, disc slightly convex, with dense, fine punctures, punctures reduced medially, baso- and apico-lateral angles rectangular, apical margin slightly concave. Elytra oblong, widest at middle, 1.3–1.4x longer than wide, disc without reticulate microsculpture, but with dense punctures; moderately convex, epipleurae near lateral margins, located 9/10 distance between suture and lateral margins. Tarsomeres I of front and middle legs typical in males. Penis ( Figs 38B–38D View FIGURE38 ) slender; 7.9x longer than wide, parallel-sided, apically bifurcate at apical 1/4; tectum small and slender; slightly curved near base in lateral view, apices narrowly rounded; ventral surface with extremely deep and basally narrowed notch from apex to basal 1/5; endophallic sac without sclerites. Apical margin of abdominal ventrite V in female truncate. Gonocoxae reduced. Ventrite VIII ( Fig. 38E View FIGURE38 ) transverse; apical margin rounded, depressed medially, with long setae along apical margin, spiculum short and slender. Receptacle of spermatheca ( Fig. 38F View FIGURE38 ) as wide as pump, connected to pump; pump strongly curved; proximal spermathecal duct elongate, only apical area sclerotized and convered by dense minute teeth.
Diagnosis. Members of this species are similar to those O. flava in general appearance but differ in forms of the antennae. Antennomere III is much shorter than IV (less than 0.6x as long as IV). Antennomere III is subequal to or slightly shorter than IV in O. flava . Aedeagi of male O. foveicollis differ from those of O. flava in possessing the small and slender tectum (elongate and apically bifurcate tectum in O. flava ), ventral surface with extremely deep, narrow notch (membranous areas inside apex of ventral surface in O. flava ).
