( Figures 3 View FIGURE 3 A–E)
Lumbrineris shinoii Gallardo, 1968: 87 , Pl. 35, figs. 9–11; Pl. 36, figs. 1–3.
Material examined. Type material: Holotype of Lumbrineris shinoii (LACM-AHF POLY 0292), South Viet Nam, Nha Trang, Station 0 79. Non-type material: Nha Trang, Station 331, 1 specimen (LACM-AHF POLYn11324); Nha Trang, Station 334, 1 specimen (LACM-AHF POLYn11325).
Description. Holotype incomplete with 69 chaetigers, L10= 2 mm and W10=0.5 mm. Prostomium conical, rounded, as long as wide, with pair of nuchal organs, ventrally with well developed buccal lips. Peristomium shorter than prostomium, two rings of similar size. All parapodia well developed, first five smaller than following ones. Parapodia 1–6 with prechaetal lobe inconspicuous, rounded and postchaetal lobe digitiform, longer than prechaetal lobe ( Figure 3 View FIGURE 3 A); from parapodium 7, prechaetal lobe digitiform, increasing gradually but smaller than postchaetal lobe, from parapodium 18, both lobes are of similar length ( Figure 3 View FIGURE 3 B). All parapodia with small notopodia, each with several notoaciculae.
Composite multidentate hooded hooks in chaetiger 1–18, with short blade, but with long hood, with up to 9 teeth of similar size ( Figure 3 View FIGURE 3 C); simple multidentate hooded hooks from chaetiger 19, with up to 9 teeth, proximal tooth largest, with short hood ( Figure 3 View FIGURE 3 D); dorsal limbate chaetae in chaetigers 1–29, ventral limbate chaetae in chaetigers 1–19. Aciculae yellow, aristate, up to two in anterior parapodia and one in posterior ones. Mandible completely fused. Maxillary apparatus with four pairs of maxillae ( Figure 3 View FIGURE 3 E); maxillary carriers as long as MI, joined along base of MI, anterior end constricted. MI forceps-like with wide base, without attachment lamella. MII stout, as long as MI, with ligament, with three teeth; without attachment lamella. MIII edentate plate, with attachment lamella narrow along 1/4 of posterior lateral edge. MIV like edentate plate, with whitish central area.
Remarks. This species was originally described as a member of Lumbrineris , but it has a very different architecture of the maxillary apparatus (see above).
Distribution. South Viet Nam.
