Etymology. The specific epithet is a Brazilian Portuguese noun in apposition for the people from Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina.

Diagnosis. Goeldia portenha differs from other species of the genus by the presence of a pair of dorsal white spots (guanine deposits) on the opisthosoma, which are very strong in males but faint or absent in females ( Fig. 1E–F View FIGURE 1 ). Males differ from other species by the tegular process usually with a subapical constriction ( Fig. 20A–B View FIGURE 20 ). The female can be diagnosed by the epigynum with the rim almost vertical and fertilization ducts far from each other twice its length ( Fig. 20E View FIGURE 20 ).

Description (Male, MACN 16126). Coloration: carapace brown, cephalic area slightly darker than thoracic area; sternum, endites and labium brown; chelicerae reddish brown. Legs: femur I as cephalic area and other leg segments yellowish brown. Opisthosoma brown with a dorsal pair of guanine deposits spots ( Fig. 1E View FIGURE 1 ). Total length 5.25.
