Type Locality: Not stated; restricted to Paraguay, Misiones, "San Ignacio," by Tate (1933).
Vernacular Names: Common Fat-tailed Mouse Opossum.
Synonyms: Thylamys citella (Thomas 1912) ; Thylamys nana ( Olfers 1818) ; Thylamys verax (Thomas 1921) .
Distribution: Paraguay, SE Bolivia, and N Argentina.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: The name nana Illiger, 1815 , is a nomen nudum and was not validated by Oken, 1816. The name marmota Oken, 1816, is not available; however its usage by Thomas (1902) is valid.
