Culex ( Microculex) reducens Lane & Whitman, 1951: 354 View in CoL ( ♂ G, ♀, Pe, Le). Holotype in USNM. Type locality: Guanabara , Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Belkin et al. 1971: 26 (ty. loc. info.); Xavier, 1973: 159 (ty. info.).
Male genitalia ( Fig. 2): Tergum IX lobes semicircular, slightly curved apically; distance between lobes twice basal width; apex with 5 simple, short, straight, widely distributed setae. Gonocoxite oblong; subapical lobe with 5 simple, setae, 3 longer than the others. Columnar process glabrous; 2 strong, straight, pointed setae at apex ( a and b), inserted at same level; seta a shorter than seta b. Ventromesal surface with 3 simple, straight setae. Gonostylus elongate, curved; slightly convex ventral surface; broad, leaf-like gonostylar claw with pointed apex.Aedeagus with claw-like ventral process close to apical area; dorsal and dorsolateral processes pointed. Aedeagal sclerite narrow, hook-like with sharp internal curve. Proctiger with tergum X connected to paraproct, with pointed outline; paraproct short, broad basal area; crown with 7 curved, pointed blades.
