Culex neglectus Lutz, 1904 View in CoL (in Bourroul 1904: 27) ( ♂, ♀). Holotype in USNM. Type locality: Serra da Cantareira , São Paulo, Brazil.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 10): Tergum IX lobes less developed; length 1.5x width; distance between lobes 5x basal width; apex with 2 short, fine, simple setae; 2 short, fine, simple setae at external margin at basal level. Gonocoxite with group of simple setae, 1 short and leaf-like. Columnar process tubercle-like with group of widely distributed, medium-sized setae; apex with 2 strong, apically curved setae ( a and b), inserted at the same level; seta a slightly longer than seta b; external margin with 3 strong, straight, pointed setae. Gonostylus elongate, claw-like, pointed; broad leaf-like gonostylar claw with pointed apex. Aedeagus with thorn-like ventral process in medial area of lateral plate; dorsal process pointed; dorsolateral process sinuous, pointed. Aedeagal sclerite hook-like; apical process curved. Tergum X somewhat triangular in outline; paraproct short, dilated at base; crown with 7 curved, pointed blades.
