Culex ( Microculex) View in CoL sp. 2 nr. neglectus

Male genitalia ( Fig. 12): Tergum IX lobes developed, straight; length 2x basal width; distance between lobes 3x basal width; apex with 2 medium-sized, simple, straight setae. Gonocoxite similar to that of Cx. neglectus sp. 1; oblong; subapical lobe with group of setae, 1 leaf-like and others more strongly developed than those of Cx. neglectus and Cx. neglectus sp. 1. Columnar process short, robust, tubercle-like; many minute setae extend from basal portion to mesoventral surface; apex with 2 slightly sinuous setae ( a and b), inserted at same level; seta a shorter than seta b. Gonostylus short and robust, hook-like; broad, leaf-like gonostylar claw with pointed apex. Aedeagus with strong ventral process, ventrally harpoon-like, dorsal process developed, dorsolateral process sinuous, pointed. Aedeagal sclerite hook-like; crest-like, less sclerotized ventral process. Tergum X symmetrical; paraproct elongate; crown with 5 less curved, pointed blades.

Distribution: Specimens collected in São Paulo city and Magé District, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil.
