Genus Hormius Nees View in CoL View at ENA

Hormius Nees View in CoL , a morphologically heterogeneous group known from all zoogeographic regions, consists of about 58 described species ( Yu et al. 2005). It is divided into three subgenera, Hormius View in CoL s. s., Hormisca Telenga View in CoL , and Anhormius Belokobylskij , characterized by different levels of wing vein reduction and shortening of the radial cell (Belokobylskij 2001). Two species are strongly brachypterous: Hormius minialatus Tobias View in CoL and Hormius dispar Brues View in CoL from the Palearctic and Nearctic regions, respectively. Additionally, a male of Hormius moniliatus View in CoL described by Hellén (1957) from Finland as H. moniliatus var. brevipennis View in CoL has weakly shortened wings. Hormius minialatus View in CoL is redescribed, and a new brachypterous species from the North Caucasus of Russia is described, below.
