Medetera tenuicauda Loew, 1857 View in CoL
( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 5–10. 5–8 )
Distribution. Widespread in Central and Eastern Europe, less so in Western Europe.
Status in CZ. Based on the last checklist ( Pollet & Suvák 2009), M. tenuicauda should be known both from Bohemia and Moravia. However, we were able to find published records only for Moravia: “Wranau” (=Vranov, 6665) ( Czižek 1906), Valtice ( Olejníček 1982), and Nad Šobesem in Podyjí National Park ( Olejníček et al. 2005). There is a larger series of voucher specimens from Valtice deposited in NMPC, and at least a small sample examined (2 ♁♁ 1 ♀) is correctly identified (see also Remarks under M. petrophiloides ). No specimens from Bohemia and Podyjí National Park were available for study (absent from both NMPC and CZUP).
Ecology. Probably overlapping with that of M. diadema , as both species were collected at the same synanthropic habitats (on walls of houses and cellars) by Olejníček (1982).
