Distribution: S British Columbia ( Canada) through W USA to Oaxaca ( Mexico), east to Virginia.

Conservation: U.S. ESA – Endangered as Plecotus ingens and Plecotus virginianus . IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Vulnerable as Plecotus townsendii .
