Type specimens. Juvenile female lectotype and 7 paralectotypes ( NMNH) taken by unknown collector on unknown date at Pensacola, Escambia Co., Florida ( Shelley 2004).
Diagnosis. A large-bodied species characterized by low coxal lobes and short, distinct posterior syncoxal processes; pg telopodite bent abruptly anteriad distad with spine on outer margin at position of bend, distal zone sublinear or sigmoidally reflexed; prefemoral process extending ventrad anterior to telopodite. Cyphopodal gynaspis relatively small, lobes distinct or indistinct.
Distribution. Coastal Alabama and the western Gulf Coast of the Florida panhandle. Published records exist from Mobile Co., Alabama, and Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, & Walton cos., Florida ( Bollman 1887 a, b; Chamberlin & Hoffman 1958; Hoffman 1992, 1999; Shelley 2001, 2004); the following new record is available.
