Lectotype (Sutton in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 98. 1993): Herb. Clifford: 8, Veronica 4 (BM-000557537) .

Generitype of Veronica Linnaeus (vide Hitchcock, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 116. 1929).

Current name: Veronica officinalis L. ( Scrophulariaceae ).

Note: Pennell (in Acad. Nat. Sci. Philadelphia Monogr. 1: 352. 1935) stated that the type was in LINN but did not distinguish between sheets 26.19 and 26.20. As these two collections are not part of the same gathering, Art. 9.15 does not apply. Sutton subsequently designated a Clifford sheet as lectotype.
