Diagnosis

In microspio photonico: frustula aspectu cingulari flexa apicibus leviter curvatis. Majores valvae lineares -lanceolatae cum protractis ad subcapitatis rotundatis apicibus. Minores valvae ellipticae cum rotundatis apicibus. Longitudo: 6,3– 14,4 µm; latitudo: 2,7–4,6 µm. Rapho valva cum axiali area aciculari; area centralis cum duabus striis plerumque remotioribus. Araphovalva cum axiali area anguste lanceolata; area centralis cum striis remotioribus. Striae aspectabilis solum in media parte, 32–35 in 10 µm, usque ad 40 ad apices.

In microscopio electronico: fissures terminales raphis curvatae ad idem latus valvae. Rami raphis cum extremis proximalibus curvatis ad opposita latera in interno visu. In duabus valvis, area centralis fere marginata duabus remotioribus striis, saltem in una margine. Striae subparallelae in media parte valvae, deinde exiliter radiantes, compositae 2–5 quadrangularibus areolis transapicaliter elongatioribus praeter aream axialem. Hyalina area circum frontem valvae adest. In araphovalva, vestigia raphis adsunt.

Type:— Réunion Island. Grand Etang site in Ravine de l'Etang , 530 m elevation, 21°06'11.8"S, 55°37'52.0"E, 1 December 2008, collected at 20 cm depth from rocks by Gilles Gassiole GoogleMaps .

Etymology:—The specific epithet palmeti refers to « Plaine des Palmistes » (in latin palmetum) where is located the type locality.
