23 exuviae – 5 males, 18 females ( Spain 1984–1999).
Length and width: 10.49–16.38× 2.31–4.35 mm (average: 13.0×3,2 mm).
Frons with deep depressions and strong wrinkles dorsally. Frontal setae situated behind level of lateral angles of frons in dorsal view. Dark margin of head projection robust and pointed in dorsal view ( Fig 7a View FIGURE 7 ). Head projection blade elongated distinctly curved in lateral view. Frons rises gently from its projection blade in lateral view. Lateral depression on head wide and rounded ventrocaudally ( Fig. 7b View FIGURE 7 ). Clypeal setae Cl 2 close to each other. Distance between setae on Cl 2 from 2 to 2.5× greater than distance between C1 2 and Cl 1. Labrum large and truncate on caudal end ( Fig. 7c View FIGURE 7 ). Cremaster approximately equal in length to anal suture in male. In female distinctly shorter than anal suture. Anal area flat ( Fig. 7d View FIGURE 7 ).
Diagnosis. Plate of head projection blade elongated, distinctly curved and pointed in lateral view, similar to B. handiensis but more elongated in B. handiensis .
Biology. Biennial. The larvae live in the roots of Bituminaria bituminosa (L.) C.H.Stirt ( Fabaceae ).
Distribution. Mediterranean part of Spain, Portugal, southern France and north-western Italy ( Laštůvka & Laštůvka 2001; Bertaccini & Fiumi 2002).
