Advikus radhamaniae View in CoL sp. nov.
Figs 5 View FIGURES 5 EFI, 6 F–I, K, 7I–K, 10A–F.
Ochraceous. Crown with one spot touching inner margin of eye and posterior margin of ocellus black, median areas with brown tinge; face with lateral frontal sutures and transclypeal suture, dark brown at some places in male, pale in female. Pronotum with brownish tinge, one dark brown spot ventrad of lateral marginal carina visible in lateral and ventral view. Forewings hyaline with yellow and brown tinge, setae on hind legs pale reddish brown, bases of setae dark brown. Structure as in generic description. Profemur with setal row AV with 26 short and peg-like setae, AV1 hair-like at distal end below seta AM1; AD well developed with 19 short setae, AM1 well developed at distal end, intercalary row (IC) with 11 hair-like setae;. Metabasitrsomere with 4 platellae on apical transverse row with one seta on either side, plantar surface with 6 short, stout setae in one row. Female sternite VII produced medially and bilobed, lateral margins rounded.
Male genitalia. Pygofer about as long as height in lateral view, narrowed to conically rounded posterior margin; anterior margin without apodemes but with marginal thickening along anterior margin traversing dorsally and posteriorly along dorsal margin, dorsum of pygofer excavated in the form of V; dorsal margin declivous with 2–3 rows of short peg-like setae on posterior 0.25; ventral margin oblique. Valve large about twice as wide at base as long. Style with outer margin with median area convex, anterior margin about 0.6 times as long as total length. Connective as long as basal straight area of shaft. Aedeagal shaft with poorly developed dorsal apodeme, shaft almost straight in basal 0.33, then strongly curved anteriorly and then dorsoposteriorly and compressed, gonopore subapical with a ventral marginal short process, shaft beyond gonopore slightly narrowed distally.
Female genitalia. Valvula II curved dorsally, denticular area preceded by basal tooth.
Measurements. Male 5.4–5.6 mm long, 1.3–1.4 mm wide across eyes and 1.5 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum. Female 6.2–6.8 mm long, 1.5 mm wide across eyes and 1.7 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum.
Material examined. HOLOTYPE ³, INDIA: Karnataka: Sirsi: Sugavi, 28.iii.2006, Radhamani , T. R., at light ( UASB) . PARATYPES: INDIA: Karnataka: 6♀, data as in holotype; 6♀, Sirsi: Navanagere , 12.iv.2006 (3♀), and 27.iii.2006 (3♀), Radhamani, T . R. at light; 2♀, Kemmannagundi, 11.iv.1975, C.A. Viraktamath . INDIA: Kerala: 3♀, Thekkadi , 884m, 27.iii.1977, C.A. Viraktamath; 1 ³, same data but collected by B.Mallik ( UASB) .
Etymology. This species is named after Dr. T.R. Radhamani (Sirsi, India) who collected this species during her studies on the diversity of leafhoppers in the Western Ghats.
Remarks. A. radhamaniae sp. nov. and A. siddappajii sp. nov. resemble each other externally but the former can be readily distinguished by the more conically produced crown in front of the eyes and by the presence of dark brown spot ventrad of the pronotal marginal carina, compared to the more roundly produced crown in front of eyes and by the absence of a dark brown spot ventrad of the pronotal lateral marginal carina of the latter. They also have entirely different male genitalia.
