Hydropsyche polyacantha View in CoL View at ENA species clade

The Hydropsyche polyacantha clade was established by Mey (2003). The species in this clade have a phallus with a sclerotized ventrum of phallotrema, forming a small unpaired sclerite. This sclerite has a short, acute prolongation towards the membranous apex of the phallic apparatus. This structure forms the phallotremal tongue, an unique character for the hamifera species group. The tongue is short, less than half the distance to the apex of the phallic apparatus. The apex of the phallic apparatus consists of a membranous endotheca forming, a pair of erectile lobes.
