Hydropsyche asiatica View in CoL species group
This species group was established by Malicky and Chantaramongkol (2000) with a broader concept. They have included into this Hydropsyche species group the small and dark coloured Hydatomanicus species with open median cell in their hindwing. In this paper we have synonymised the Hydatomanicus with Hydromanicus and separated into the Hydromanicus verrucosus species group. The species in the Hydropsyche asiatica species group are restricted to the Oriental region and are characterized by having phallic apparatus with simple terminalia without membranous endothecal processes. The phallotheca is curiously curved in some species; the pair of sclerous endothecal processes (outer lip) is shell-formed and movable, sometimes expanded, abducted, or even adducted in preserved specimens. The other terminal processes comprise the paired, smaller, but heavily sclerotized phallotremal sclerites (inner lips).
