Hydropsyche columnata new species clade
Fig. 204
The species in this clade are charecterized by having the phallic apparatus modified into an inverse, V-shaped junction of the basal and terminal sections of the phallotheca, forming a triangularly sinuate bend, or modified at least into a significant dorsal elevation of the junction; resulting in a deep slope to the shortened terminal section of the phallotheca. The right-angled or obtusely angled phallotheca present in the newae species clade is modified into a narrowing, acute-angled phallotheca in the columnata clade, as visible in one or both dorsal and ventral side of the bend. The basal section is elongated and the horizontal terminal section is shorter.
