The species in this clade are characterized by having phallic apparatus modified into an inverse, U-shaped fusion of the basal and terminal sections of the phallotheca, forming a rounded or rectangular, sinuate bend. The dorsal side of the bend is never acute, but rather obtusely angled, forming a wide and flat dorsum. The basal section with the bend is longer than the terminal section.
