Cheumatopsyche ayopa species group
Species group of monolobed segment X with a narrow and shallow apicomesal excision. The apex of segment X upturning in lateral aspect. Harpago developed with variously bifid apices. All species has unique harpago, easy to differenciate from the related species. Asymmetrical protarsal claw with laterally flanked setal bundle developed except at C. padaha new species, whose protarsal claw symmetrical without any laterally flanked setal bundle. This is an example for the independent development or reduction of characters with or without homoplasies. Mostly big and dark animals with long antennae. Similarly to Potamyia , another hydropsychine genus this species group of Cheumatopsyche genus has the biggest-sized members of the genus. This species group is distributed in Madagascar with 6 new species.
