Cheumatopsyche masiposa Oláh & Johanson , new species

Fig. 367–370

This species is similar to C. rantsoa , new species from which it is easily separated by the more slender basal half of the coxopodites, and the broad basal part of the harpagones. Cheumatopsyche masiposa has uniformly coloured forewing membranes, while C. rantsoa has a patterned forewing membranes.

Male. Body brown. Forewing membranes pale brown with darker pubescence. Maxilary palp formula I.(III, IV)-II-V, segment V as long as sum of segments I–IV. Head dorsum brown with brown setal warts. Swollen setal wart absent on proepisternum. Pretarsal claws asymmetrical, laterally flanked by setal bundle. Protibiae with 2 apical spurs, posteroapical spur small.

Wings. Forewing crossveins m-cu and cu tangential. Cu2 and A1 running distantly along their length. Hind wing Sc and R confluent apically of crossvein r at distance from r equal to 1.5 crossvein length. Crossvein r located apically of crossvein s by distance equal to length of crossvein. Fork 1 present. Wing membrane pale brown, with darker areas on apical area. Forewing length 9.2 mm.

Male genitalia. Abdominal segment IX fused annularly, short; tergum much shorter than sternum ( Fig. 367). Anterior margins of segment IX almost regular bow-shaped, undulating at central part; more deeply drawn on dorsal section in lateral aspect ( Fig. 367). Apical lobe on posterolateral margins medium long, nearly triangular ( Fig. 367); located above articulation cavity of gonocoxite. Antecostae well developed, widening before margin; with well visible external groove of antecostal suture; vestigial acrotergite visible ( Fig. 367). Spine row on posterior margins of segment IX complete, not intermittent; spines heterogenous; spines on laterocaudal lobes of dorsum irregularly bending, half as long as spines on posterior margins, present on border between segments IX and X; spines on apical lobes stiff, straight, about one-third as long as spines on posterior margins. Intersegmental step between segments IX and X sloping, occupied by pair of setose protuberances similar to setose laterocaudal lobes. Body of segment X long, nearly quadrangular, with dorsad curving, blunt apex in lateral aspect ( Fig. 367); simple, rounded, long, nearly quadrangular, lobe-shaped in dorsal aspect ( Fig. 368); ventrum not bellied. Apicoventral lobes directing dorsad, fusing to segment X, dominating distal part; delineated by setae; rounded in lateral view ( Fig. 367); dorsum half spherical in dorsal view ( Fig. 368). Smooth, mesal lobe reduced; dorsal, interlobular gap small, narrow, shallowly triangular ( Fig. 368). Dorsad orienting apex of fused, apicoventral lobes separated by dorsal, interlobular gap, shape highly depending on observation angle. Setose structures present on basal dorsolateral areas of segment X; forming pair of well-developed protuberances representing laterocaudal lobes ( Fig. 367). Unique, smooth, slightly sclerotized pair of tapering processes arising from middle of dorsum, variously developed in the paratypes; vestigial, ventral section of transverse sutures forming continuation of apicoventral setose lobes at anterior end of longitudinal sutures along bottom of segment X. Setose areas (superior or preanal appendages) forming pair of elevating and circular flap-like warts located centrally on segment X, after dorsal smooth pair of processes. Coxopodites slightly exceeding apex of segment X; very slender immediately after basis, broadening abruptly before half-length ( Fig. 367); with undulating dorsal margin; nearly straight in ventral view ( Fig. 369). Harpagones each with short, broad basis ( Fig. 367); triangular in lateral view; continuing in long, dorsad curving, thin, digitate process; basis less wide in ventral view ( Fig. 369). Phallothecal phallobase large, straight, horizontal shaft parallel-sided, constricted after mid-length ( Fig. 367). Endophallus long, not filling entire phallotheca. Chitinezed endothecal process circular, almost as wide as shaft. Phallotremmal sclerites broad, rounded and sinuate in lateral aspect.
