Type Locality: "Maisine and Savary.—N. E. Madagascar;" type locality requires formal restriction.
Vernacular Names: White-bellied Nesomys.
Distribution: Low to middle elevation rain forest, sea level- 1000 m, from vicinity of Antongil Bay to Vohimena Mtns, E Madagascar.
Discussion: Carleton and Schmidt (1990:18) discussed the indeterminate nature of Audebert’s collecting localities.
