Type Locality: "Sierra de Colima, Jalisco, Mexico, (altitude 8000 feet [2438 m])".

Distribution: Colima, Distrito Federal, Guerrero, Jalisco, México, Michoacán, Morelos, Puebla, from 2100 to 3650 m or more ( Mexico); Guatemala.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Referred to unnamed subgenus by George (1988:456). Populations from Guatemala provisionally included by Junge and Hoffmann (1981) may be distinct and should be carefully studied.
