Diagnosis and description

A revised diagnosis and description was provided by Barrientos & Cardoso (2007).

Discussion

Based on the narrow definition provided by Barrientos & Cardoso (2007) only Malthonica lusithanica and Malthonica oceanica Barrientos & Cardoso, 2007 , remain in the genus. Relevant information on the two species was provided by Barrientos & Cardoso (2007).
