Euphorbia parviflora Linnaeus View in CoL , Systema Naturae, ed. 10, 2: 1047. 1759.
["Habitat in India ."] Sp. Pl., ed. 2, 1: 652 (1762). RCN: 3514.
Lectotype (Esser & Chayamarit in Harvard Pap. Bot. 6: 263. 2001): [icon] "Tithymalus humilis, ramosissimus, hirsutus, foliis Thymi serratis" in Burman, Thes. Zeylan.: 225, t. 105, f. 3. 1737. - Epitype (Esser & Chayamarit in Harvard Pap. Bot. 6: 263. 2001): Sri Lanka. P. Hartog s.n. (G).
Current name: Euphorbia parviflora L. View in CoL ( Euphorbiaceae ).
Note: Esser & Chayamarit (in Harvard Pap. Bot. 6: 263-265. 2001) provide a detailed review of this name and conclude that Philcox (in Dassanayake & Clayton, Revised Handb. Fl. Ceylon 11: 196. 1997) was wrong to recognise Burman’s t. 105, f. 2 as the type. They reject his choice on the grounds that t. 105, f. 2 was not an original element for the name, designating t. 105, f. 3 as lectotype in its place.
