Enderleina yano: Ribeiro & Rafael (2005) View in CoL [misidentified]; Derka et al. (2019) [species distribution]
Type Material. Holotype, BRAZIL, Amazonas State , São Gabriel da Cachoeira County, Morro dos Seis Lagos, 28.ix–06.x. 1990, 800 m a.s.l., Malaise trap, collectors J.A. Rafael & J. Vidal (1 male, INPA) . Paratypes, same data as holotype (4 females, 1 male, INPA)
Diagnosis. Adults head dorsally dark brown from posterior margin to the median ocellus, yellow from median ocellus to anterior margin of labrum ( Figs. 3A View FIGURE 3 , 9A View FIGURE 9 ); fore- and hindwings transversally striped, divided into five color divisions: a) basally dark brown, b) followed by yellow and dark brown, c) dark brown, d) yellow e) and, dark brown distally ( Figs. 2A, B View FIGURE 2 , 7A, B View FIGURE 7 ). Penial armature composed of a median sclerite with elongated body acuminated toward apex on its ⅓ distal region ( Figs. 5A, B View FIGURE 5 , 6A, B View FIGURE 6 ), bearing spiniform projections ventrally on an area between median and basal region of median sclerite ( Figs. 5D, E View FIGURE 5 , 6B View FIGURE 6 ), and a pair of basolateral arms, each with one ventral and one dorsal elongated projection ( Figs 5A, B View FIGURE 5 , 6A, B View FIGURE 6 ).
Etymology. The specific epithet of the new species derives from the Latin word plagata , meaning striped, due to the characteristic wing pattern on male and female wings.
Description. Male ( Figs. 2–6 View FIGURE 2 View FIGURE 3 View FIGURE 4 View FIGURE 5 View FIGURE 6 ). Total length: 12.5 mm, 12.9 mm (from head anterior region until forewing apex, n = 2). Forewing length: 10 mm, 10.2 mm (n = 2). Head: In dorsal view, parietal region and frons, including ocellus area, dark brown; anterior region, from median ocellus until anterior margin of labrum yellowish orange ( Fig. 3A View FIGURE 3 ); median ocellus half the diameter of lateral ocelli; head yellow in ventral view, except area behind the eyes; maxillary and labial palps yellowish brown ( Fig. 3C View FIGURE 3 ); antennal flagellomeres becoming darker (brown) towards the end; scape, pedicel and first flagellomere yellow. Thorax: Pronotum yellow; mesonotum dark brown with some yellow marks posteriorly ( Figs 2A, B View FIGURE 2 , 3B View FIGURE 3 ); lateral and ventral region yellow. Fore- and hindwings transversally striped, divided into five color sections: a) basal dark brown, b) followed by yellow and dark brown, c) dark brown, d) yellow e) and, dark brown distally ( Fig. 2A, B View FIGURE 2 ). Legs, coxae yellow, fore and middle femur ⅓ basal region yellow; remaining region dark brown, hind femur ⅔ basal region yellow; remaining region dark brown ( Figs. 2A, B View FIGURE 2 ). Abdomen: yellow. Tergum X with two groups of sensilla basiconica ( Stark 1989), one on each lateroposterior region ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ). Paired paraproct elongated with apical region sclerotized, especially anteriorly ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 C–F), with two subbasal spines anteriorly ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 D–F) downwardly directed ( Fig. 4E, F View FIGURE 4 ). Sternum IX with a rounded and slightly pronounced hammer, located near posterior margin ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ). Cerci with three first articles yellowish; following ones dark brown; articles with whirl of dark and strong setae and abundant thinner setae ( Fig. 2B View FIGURE 2 , 4A, B, D, E View FIGURE 4 ). Penial armature composed of a median sclerite and a pair of basolateral arms. Median sclerite elongated, concave dorsally, tapered toward ⅓ of apex ( Fig. 5A, B, F View FIGURE 5 ); with lateral constrictions at approximately ⅓ distal region ( Fig. 5A, B, D View FIGURE 5 ); these constrictions result a wavy appearance in lateral view ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ); ventrally, bearing spiniform projections on an area between median and basal region of median sclerite ( Figs. 5D, E View FIGURE 5 , 6B View FIGURE 6 ). Basolateral arms, each with one ventral and one dorsal elongated projection; both projections narrower at the base, wider distally with a needlelike structure on the inner side of distal margin ( Figs. 5A, B View FIGURE 5 , 6A, B View FIGURE 6 ); ventral projection darkly sclerotized, darker and shorter than dorsal one ( Figs. 5B View FIGURE 5 , 6B View FIGURE 6 ). Membrane on basal region of aedeagus covered with distinct setae.
Female ( Figs 7–10 View FIGURE 7 View FIGURE 8 View FIGURE 9 View FIGURE 10 ): Total length: 15.6 mm, 16 mm (from head anterior region until forewing apex, n = 2). Forewing length: 12.8 mm, 13.2 mm (n = 2). Head: Similar in color to those of male ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 A–C). Thorax: Similar in color to those of male ( Figs. 7 View FIGURE 7 , 8 View FIGURE 8 , 9C View FIGURE 9 ). Abdomen: yellow ( Fig. 8B View FIGURE 8 ). Tergum IX wider than long, with a dense group of dark setae on posterior margin, bulging region medially with dark setae ( Fig. 10A View FIGURE 10 ). Sternum VIII (subgenital plate) wider than long, with ratio between length (median region) and width (widest region) 0.6; approximately hexagonal in shape, with anterior margin shorter than posterior one, the latter strongly rounded laterally ( Fig. 10B View FIGURE 10 ); distal margin with median area darker than other regions with a shallow V-shape notch medially, with longer and stronger setae than on the other regions ( Fig. 10B View FIGURE 10 ). Sclerotized band of sternum IX at the same height as posterior margin of sternum VIII ( Fig. 10B View FIGURE 10 ); band thicker laterally, becoming narrower medially, almost interrupted at median region ( Fig. 10C View FIGURE 10 ). Cerci long, setose; segments 1–3 light colored; following segments increasingly darker ( Fig. 10A View FIGURE 10 )
