Kumanoa mahabaleshwarense (Balakrishnan & B.B.Chaugule) E.K.Ganesan & J.A.West
Ganesan & West 2013, p. 4.
Taxonomic synonym: Batrachospermum mahabaleshwarensis Balakrishnan & Chaugule, 1980c, p. 231 , figs 8–11; Desikachary et al. 1990, Part II A, p. 102; Balakrishnan & Chaugule 2002, p. 122; Kumano 2002, p. 218, Pl. 129, figs 8–11; Salve & Chaugule 2004, p. 117; Ott 2009, p. 27.
Distribution in India: Maharashtra (Mahabaleshwar).
Notes: Necchi & Vis (2012) considered it as a doubtful species because the type specimen from the University of Pune was not available for examination. Salve & Chaugule (2004) studied, in detail, the morphological variations in four samples collected from four different places in and around the type locality. The authors concluded that all the samples fit in the same species i.e., B. mahabaleshwarensis , despite showing variations in morphology.
