Caloglossa adhaerens R.J.King & Puttock
Taxonomic synonym: Caloglossa adnata (Zanardini) De Toni
Sen & Naskar 2003, p. 189, Pl. XXIII, fig. 141 a, b; Pl. XXVIII, c, d.
Distribution in India: West Bengal (Ramgopalpur, attached to pnuematophores and barks of mangroves and intermingled with Bostrychia spp. and Catenella sp. ).
Notes: Following King & Puttock (1994) and Silva et al. (1996), we treat the earlier unverified records of Caloglossa adnata in India under C. adhaerens (for full references see Silva et al. 1996). Record of occurrence of this species in an exclusive freshwater envrionment is unkown to date ( Ott 2009). However, it is most frequently reported in mangrove and marine habitats ( Silva et al. 1996). Latt & Soe-Htun (2014) have provided a detailed description and figures of this species occurring in mangrove swamps of Myanmar in the Indian ocean. In India, the only reliable record is that of Sen & Naskar (2003, as C. adnata ), when they described and illustrated the unequivocally characteristic features of this species, i.e., (i) zig-zag or sub-dichotomous branching of the midrib producing unequal lobes of the fronds and (ii) the uniseriate rhizoids scattered on ventral blade surface.
