Lemanea torulosa (Roth) C. Agardh
Singh & Gupta 2010, p. 51; Pl. 2, a, b; Gupta & Singh 2012, p. 23, Pl. 2, a, b.
Distribution in India: Manipur (Ningthem Hidane, Manipur river, Dec. to Feb.).
Notes: An invalid binomial not in current usage, it is regarded as a taxonomic synonym of Paralemanea torulosa (Roth) Sheath & Sherwood (2002 ; 2006) and Eloranta et al. (2011). As in the case of “ Lemanea catenata ” (= Paralemanea catenata ), Singh & Gupta (2011) did not provide any critical details (presence or absence of cortical rhizoidson the axial filament) in support of their identification of the Manipur plants to “ Lemanea torulosa ”. The report of P. torulosa in India remains dubious.
