Audouinella keralayensis (L. Jose & R.J. Patel) E.K. Ganesan & J.A.West
Ganesan & West 2013, p. 2.
Taxonomic synonyms: Acrochaetium keralayensis Jose & Patel 1990b, p.177 , figs 1–7; Pseudochantransia keralayensis (Jose & Patel) Ott 2009, p. 378 .
Distribution in India: Kerala (from freshwater flow of Periyar River, near Alwaye, Dec.).
Notes: Ott (2009) transferred five freshwater species from India with an acrochaetioid morphology ( Acrochaetium parva , A. godwardense , A. indica , A. keralayensis and A. sarmaii ) to Pseudochantransia making new combinations. Pending further critical studies, we prefer to include these five species in a broad sense (i.e., bluish and/or reddish coloured with single or multiple plastids with or without pyrenoids in each cell and with or without asexual/sexual reproduction) under a single genus Audouinella .
