Audouinella sarmae (M. Khan) Garbary
Garbary 1987, p.133; Kumano 2002, p. 59, Pl. 31, figs 1–6.
Taxonomic synonyms: Acrochaetium sarmaii Khan 1970, p. 250 , figs 1–6; Desikachary et al. 1990, Part II A, p. 78, fig 12 A–C; Pseudochantransia sarmaii (Khan) Ott : Ott, 2009, p. 380.
Distribution in India: Uttarakhand (formerly Uttaranchal Dehra Dun Water Works outlet) growing on mosses, Aug, Oct.).
Notes: Following Silva (2017) and Guiry & Guiry (2017), we use the spelling “ sarmae ” instead of A. sarmaii as originally provided by Khan (1970). Sheath (1984) referred this species as Audouinella sarmae (Khan) Sheath ( Sheath,
1984), but was considered invalid, since a basionym was not cited. Later, Garbary (1987) citing the basionym validated it. Kumano (2002) included Audouinella sarmae , A. godwardense and A. indica under the genus Acrochaetium and not under Audouinella . The three species of Audouinella i.e., Audouinella indica , A. jogensis , and A. pulvinata , are known only in the type collections from those localities in India.
