Gerbillus (Hendecapleura) syrticus Misonne 1974 View in CoL
Gerbillus (Hendecapleura) syrticus Misonne 1974 View in CoL , Bull. Inst. R. Sci. Nat. Belg., 50: 1.
Type Locality: Libya, 12 km N Nofilia.
Vernacular Names: Sand Gerbil.
Distribution: Known only from the type locality.
Conservation: IUCN – Critically Endangered.
Discussion: Subgenus Hendecapleura . Relationship of G. syrticus has to be evaluated in a taxonomic revision in Lay’s opinion (1983), but Pavlinov et al. (1990) included it in G. henleyi with a question. We list it as a separate species pending revisionary study of the genus.
