Diagnosis. (Modified from Fonseca & Bezerra (2014).) Cuticle striated or with transverse rows of punctations. Cephalic sensilla usually in three, or sometimes two, distinct circles. Multispiral amphideal fovea. Buccal cavity in two compartments with a cup-shaped or shallow anterior portion; posterior portion either a narrow, weakly cuticularised, collapsed tube or a cylindrical to conical cavity with cuticularised walls and projections at the border with anterior portion of buccal cavity. Pharynx with three marginal (or pharyngeal) tubes opening at bottom of buccal cavity. Excretory pore posterior to, or at same level as, nerve ring. Female reproductive system didelphicamphidelphic with outstretched ovaries, spermatheca usually present. Male reproductive system diorchic with opposite and outstretched testes. Copulatory apparatus with weakly to strongly cuticularised spicules and gubernaculum; when present, paired apophyses of variable position. Precloacal supplements present or absent, usually tubular.
