Discussion. This pestiferous human-biting coastal species ranges from Massachusetts south to Florida and Texas in the USA, Mexico south to Ecuador, Brazil and the Caribbean region ( Borkent and Spinelli 2007). It was previously known in Mexico from Campeche, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Veracruz and Yucatán ( Hoffman 1925, Root and Hoffman 1937, Wirth and Blanton 1974). We provide the first records from Baja California, Hidalgo, Nayarit and additional records from Guerrero, Sinaloa, Tabasco, Veracruz, and Yucatán.
