An Afrotropical species whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae , but they have also been collected from Mammalia (several orders). Rhipicephalus supertritus is a very rare parasite of humans.

Note: Rhipicephalus supertritus has been confused with several other species of Rhipicephalus , and there is disagreement concerning its geographical distribution and morphological definition ( Walker et al. 2000).
