L: Apanaskevich (2003b), Apanaskevich and Horak (2005), Apanaskevich and Filippova (2007), Estrada-Peña et al. (2017); see note below

Note: contrary to Apanaskevich (2003b) and Apanaskevich and Horak (2005), Snow (1971) states that coxae II and III of the larva of Hyalomma excavatum lack spurs. See also Hyalomma anatolicum for its confusion with Hyalomma excavatum and other species in the genus Hyalomma . There are several redescriptions of Hyalomma excavatum (sometimes under the name Hyalomma anatolicum excavatum ) published prior to Apanaskevich (2003b), but most of these have been excluded from the above lists as well as redescriptions under several synonyms of Hyalomma excavatum .
