5. Hyalomma asiaticum Schulze and Schlottke, 1929a .

A Palearctic species whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae and Camelidae ; nymphs and larvae are commonly recovered from Erinaceomorpha : Erinaceidae , Lagomorpha : Leporidae , and Rodentia (several families). All parasitic stages have been collected from Mammalia (several orders); adults alone have been taken from Columbiformes : Columbidae , and Strigiformes : Strigidae ; immature stages have been found on Falconiformes : Falconidae , Passeriformes (several families), and Squamata : Gekkonidae . The record of Hyalomma asiaticum from the Oriental Zoogeographic Region in Hou et al. (2019) requires confirmation. Hyalomma asiaticum is a sporadic parasite of humans.

Note: Kakarsulemankhel (2012) redescribed the male and female of Hyalomma asiaticum , depicting several differences with the redescriptions of Apanaskevich and Horak (2010), but Kakarsulemankhel (2012) did not discuss these and we have therefore excluded his redescriptions from the lists above. There are also several redescriptions of different subspecies of Hyalomma asiaticum that are excluded from the above lists.
