F: Koch (1844a), under the name Hyalomma hispanum ( Fabricius, 1787) , as explained in Guglielmone and Nava (2014)

Note: there are several redescriptions of Hyalomma marginatum under the names Hyalomma plumbeum and Hyalomma savignyi , as well as some debatable redescriptions under the name Hyalomma marginatum , but none of these are included in the above lists, which are mostly based on the studies of Apanaskevich (2003c, 2004) and Apanaskevich and Horak (2008b). Recent records of Hyalomma marginatum from the Oriental Zoogeographic Region in Paikade and Chavan (2019) and from Sudan (Afrotropical Region) in Elhaj et al. (2019) require confirmation.
