17. Hyalomma lusitanicum Koch, 1844a . A Palearctic species whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae ; larvae and nymphs are commonly recovered from Lagomorpha : Leporidae (together with a few adult ticks). Adults and nymphs have occasionally been taken from Mammalia (several orders), and Galliformes : Phasianidae ; adult ticks alone have rarely been found on Passeriformes : Fringillidae , Strigiformes : Strigidae , and Struthioniformes : Struthionidae ; and larvae and nymphs have been collected from Passeriformes : Turdidae . Hyalomma lusitanicum is a sporadic parasite of humans.
