An Oriental species whose adults have been found on Artiodactyla : Cervidae and Suidae , and Carnivora : Canidae and Felidae ; undetermined immature stages have been collected from Carnivora : Viverridae . There are no records of Haemaphysalis sumatraensis causing human parasitism.

Redescriptions: none

Note: Camicas et al. (1998) treat the larva of Haemaphysalis sumatraensis as undescribed, but there is no reason to question its description in Kadarsan (1971).
