An Afrotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages, including the undescribed nymph and larva, have been found on Rodentia : Hystricidae ; adults and nymphs have been collect-ed from Passeriformes : Motacillidae ; nymphs alone have been recovered from Rodentia : Muridae , and Carnivora : Felidae . There are no records of Haemaphysalis tauffliebi causing human parasitism.
