An Afrotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Hyracoidea : Procaviidae , but all parasitic stages have also been collected from Lagomorpha : Leporidae , and Carnivora : Felidae ; immature stages have been recovered from Rodentia : Muridae , Nesomyidae and Pedetidae , Macroscelidea : Macroscelididae , and Carnivora : Herpestidae . Rhipicephalus distinctus is a very rare parasite of humans.
