An Afrotropical species whose adults have been found on Mammalia (several orders), and Accipitriformes : Accipitridae . Rhipicephalus haemaphysaloides is a sporadic parasite of humans.

Note: Walker (1957) and Walker et al. (2000) state that it can be difficult to morphologically separate females and nymphs of Rhipicephalus humeralis from those of Rhipicephalus pulchellus , but the larvae of these species are even more difficult to distinguish from each other.
