Haemaphysalis intermedia is a very rare and provisional parasite of humans.

M: Neumann (1908d) , under the name Haemaphysalis parva , preoccupied, and replaced by Haemaphysalis intermedia (originally named Haemaphysalis bispinosa intermedia ), as explained in Trapido and Hoogstraal (1963c); see note below

F: Neumann (1908d) , under the name Haemaphysalis parva

N: Nuttall and Warburton (1915), under the name Haemaphysalis parva

L: Nuttall and Warburton (1915), under the name Haemaphysalis parva

Note: Haemaphysalis parva described in Neumann (1908d) is a name preoccupied by Haemaphysalis parva described by Neumann (1897) under the genus Dermacentor and reinstated in the genus Haemaphysalis by Morel (1963a). Consequently, Trapido and Hoogstraal (1963) used the next available name, Haemaphysalis intermedia (originally Haemaphysalis bispinosa intermedia ), to replace Haemaphysalis parva Neumann, 1908 . Redescriptions of Haemaphysalis intermedia under the name Haemaphysalis parva , as in Santos Dias (1954a), are not included in the above lists. See also Haemaphysalis bispinosa , Haemaphysalis kutchensis and Haemaphysalis paraturturis for their confusion with Haemaphysalis intermedia .
