92. Haemaphysalis longicornis Neumann, 1901 View in CoL .

An Australasian, Nearctic, Oriental and Palearctic species ( Guglielmone et al. 2015) whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae and Cervidae , and Perissodactyla : Equidae . All parasitic stages have been collected from Mammalia (several orders) and less often from Galliformes : Phasianidae ; adults alone have been recovered from Anseriformes : Anatidae , and immature stages have been found on Passeriformes (several families). Haemaphysalis longicornis is a frequent parasite of humans.

M: Dönitz (1905), under the name Haemaphysalis neumanni , a synonym of Haemaphysalis longicornis

F: Neumann (1901)

N: Pospelova-Shtrom (1940), under the name Haemaphysalis bispinosa neumanni , a synonym of Haemaphysalis longicornis

Note: Haemaphysalis longicornis has been extensively confused with several species of Haemaphysalis , but chiefly with Haemaphysalis bispinosa prior to the study of Hoogstraal et al. (1968b). Redescriptions of Haemaphysalis longicornis under the name Haemaphysalis bispinosa are not included in the above lists. Elom et al. (2020) allegedly found Haemaphysalis longicornis in Nigeria (Afrotropical Region), but this record requires confirmation. See also Haemaphysalis davisi for its confusion with Haemaphysalis neumanni , a synonym of Haemaphysalis longicornis .
