An Afrotropical species whose adults are usually found on Carnivora : Canidae , Felidae and Viverridae . Adults and nymphs have been collected from Rodentia : Muridae ; adults alone have been recovered from Artiodactyla : Cervidae and Moschidae , Carnivora (several families), Rodentia : Hystricidae , and Galliformes : Phasianidae . Haemaphysalis paraleachi is a very rare parasite of humans.
