An Oriental and Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages, including the undescribed larva, have been found on Galliformes : Phasianidae ; adults and nymphs have been collected from Passeriformes : Turdidae , adults alone have been recovered from Passeriformes : Pittidae , Chloropseidae and Turdidae ; Artiodactyla : Bovidae , Carnivora : Mustelidae , and Lagomorpha : Leporidae (Guglielmone et al. 2014, Kuo et al. 2017). There are no records of Haemaphysalis ornithophila causing human parasitism.
