Note: Filippova and Panova (1985) recognize previous descriptions of larvae and nymphs of Dermacentor species present in Siberia and the Russian Far East but state that these are not useful for diagnostic purposes. Nevertheless, the descriptions of the larva and nymph of Dermacentor nuttalli by Reznik (1956, 1959) are treated as valid here. See Dermacentor marginatus for a discussion of the difficulties attending identification of species in the Dermacentor marginatus group, to which Dermacentor nuttalli belongs.
